Associate VP / Vice President, Energy

The Asia Group (TAG) is now accepting applications for an Associate VP / Vice President to join our Energy and Sustainability Practice based in Washington, DC. This role will require expertise in energy sector issues, including traditional and renewable energy markets, and the ability to advise clients on energy policy trends and stakeholders in Asia.

The Vice President will be an integral member of TAG’s Energy & Sustainability practices and working closely with colleagues based in Asia and Washington, DC. The Vice President will play a key role in a variety of aspects of the firm’s client management, development, and strategy execution related to the energy sector. The Vice President will manage client servicing, projects, and contribute to business development under the guidance of the DC-based Energy & Sustainability practice lead. The Vice President will also support in crafting and leading client strategies for market access and analytical insights, enhancing public sector relationships and brand equity, and offering policy-driven solutions that enable TAG’s clients to mitigate risks and seize opportunities across the Indo-Pacific region.

Job Requirements

  • Advanced degree (e.g.MA/MBA/MPP)and 10 plus years’ relevant work experience related to energy, sustainability, commercial, and economic policy issues in Asia
  • Significant mid-level professional experience focused on the energy sector in industry or consulting, demonstrating experience in client servicing and project management as well as the ability to integrate public policy with corporate strategy.
  • Should possess a strong grasp of global energy markets and Asian political, regulatory, and macroeconomic landscapes, as well as the ability to convert these insights into actionable strategies and recommendations for commercial stakeholders
  • Strong communicator, demonstrated by the ability to present in a polished and effective manner to senior business executives and other senior level interlocutors in multinational settings
  • Effective leader and team player with high emotional intelligence and a positive, proactive, and professional attitude; eager for professional development and open to learning
  • Attention to detail, commitment to excellence, and ability to meet tight deadlines and manage competing priorities
  • Flexibility with respect to working and communication hours, particularly when coordinating with clients and TAG team members located across the Indo-Pacific.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day client and project workstreams, including inter alia development and review of written deliverables, delivering substantive briefings for clients, and fielding and executing client requests as they come in, under guidance from the leadership
  • Create and support policy-driven engagement strategies that align with clients’ business objectives in the region
  • Develop regular, nuanced assessments of and briefings on political, economic, and regulatory trends impacting the energy sector for clients
  • Cultivate and maintain a robust network of relevant stakeholder relationships in Washington,DC and Asia;
  • Contribute to TAG business development objectives, including identifying opportunities, developing proposals, and conducting outreach
  • Lead planning and implementation of client engagements and activities inAsia, in coordination with country-based TAG teams, including executive-level visits;
  • Contribute to thought leadership activities, representing TAG at energy-related conferences, think tank events, and other industry-government gatherings.
