Staff Pharmacist

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Staff Pharmacist to join our dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities

  • Dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently using advanced pharmacy software systems, ensuring adherence to all legal and safety standards.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine appropriate medication therapies, considering medical history, physiology, and current health conditions.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop and modify treatment plans, including pain management, immunizations, and medical management strategies.
  • Prepare compounded medications following aseptic techniques and sterile compounding protocols to ensure safety and efficacy.
  • Manage inventory levels meticulously, including medication storage, stock rotation, and ordering supplies to prevent shortages or wastage.
  • Administer immunizations and perform medication administration procedures in accordance with medical terminology and hospital protocols.
  • Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems to document patient interactions, medication histories, and treatment outcomes accurately.
  • Provide clinical pharmacy services in specialized areas such as critical care, pediatrics, or acute care units, supporting patient care teams with expert advice.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and privacy at all times.
  • Support pharmacy technicians by supervising medication preparation processes and ensuring adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Valid pharmacist license with current registration in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Proven experience in LTC pharmacy or hospital settings; critical care experience is highly desirable.
  • Completion of a pharmacy residency program or equivalent clinical pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and pharmacology principles related to medication therapy management.
  • Hands-on experience with pharmacy software systems (EMR/EHR), compounding medications, IV infusion preparation, and aseptic technique.
  • Familiarity with inventory management practices and IV insertion procedures within clinical environments.
  • Ability to perform patient assessments effectively and deliver excellent patient service across diverse populations including pediatrics.
  • Certifications in immunizations and medication administration are advantageous; prior pharmacy technician experience is a plus.
