Leaders in Community Alternatives, Inc., also known as “LCA” among our participants, customers, and the criminal justice community, is an accredited community-based criminal justice organization originally founded in 1991. LCA offers innovative and progressive intervention programs to the criminal justice community through a range of community based and in-custody programs across multiple counties in California.
LCA applies evidence-based criminal justice practices to all our service delivery models, programs, and curriculum. LCA’s broad array of services includes residential treatment programs, adult reentry and juvenile day reporting programs, adult employment services, and electronic monitoring programs including Curfew Monitoring (EM), GPS Tracking (GPS), and Continuous Alcohol Monitoring (CAM).

POSITION SUMMARY: The Case Manager I provides one-on-one and group services to Stanislaus County Juvenile Program clients and is the primary coordinator of the program with the clients.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: In addition to the responsibilities below, the Case Manager I will develop Individual Service Plans (ISP), ensure follow-through on linkages to mental health, substance abuse treatment, and other outside services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervise client activity, refer to community resources, write reports, and ensure compliance with the Program.
- Provide intake of client; conduct initial interviews of clients assigned to the caseload and provide program orientation.
- Maintain confidentiality of information obtained through job duties regarding employees, vendors, clients, outside agencies, etc., so that sensitive information is only furnished on a ‘need to know’ basis.
- Familiarity with the LCA Employee Handbook, Personnel Policy, Operations Manual and Operating Procedures Manual (all procedures and policies included on the LCA Forms and Files site).
- Develop an ISP for each client and provide services to caseload of clients at a ratio of 1:15.
- Notify the Program Director of any problems/issues.
- Make recommendations regarding caseload matters.
- Conduct and participate in case conferences for each client assigned to the caseload.
- Utilize Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques.
- Follow the program lesson plan and curricula to ensure fidelity of treatment.
- Track client participation in the database system.
- Coordinate and communicate with all other program staff, and outside referrals, to ensure consistency and fidelity to the Stanislaus County Juvenile Program mission.
- Attend all staff meetings.
- Observe and notify pertinent staff of significant client behaviors, e.g., changed presentation, interactions, participation in groups, or other notable client conduct.
- May be required to drive agency vehicles and transport participants.
- Immediately notify supervisory staff in the event of a potentially dangerous situation.
- Complete in-service training to meet the requirements for continued personal and professional self-development (40 hours per year). See LCA Employee Handbook.
- Knowledge of LCA’s community-based programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate degree AND two years of work experience in community justice/human services OR four years of work experience in community justice/human services.
- Bachelor’s degree highly preferred.
- Minimum of two years’ work experience in providing case management.
- Must have experience working with the criminal justice, homeless, or substance abusing population within the last two years.
