Legal Assistant

Summary:

Martin Law is seeking a compassionate, team oriented, customer service focused bilingual legal assistant to support our Legal Teams with various duties including gathering medical records and bills, scheduling appointments and depositions, scanning client documents, file preparation, and client contact in Portuguese and English or Spanish and English.

Responsibilities:

  • Logs in medical records to client files including mail, medical records, medical bills, hearing notices, discovery, etc.
  • Schedules depositions, mediations, client appointments, referral lunches, client meetings
  • Assembles the medical index and follows up on the acquisition of medical records
  • May keep clients informed by maintaining contact; communicating case progress
  • May maintain case costs by verifying outstanding balance with attorney, clients, and providers
  • Responds to and scans all incoming mail documents
  • Prepares files for depositions and mediations
  • Confirms client appointments, depositions, and mediations
  • Takes new client intake calls (after 90 days on the job)
  • Closes and strips down files
  • Performs other duties

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred
  • One year of experience in worker’s comp and/or law firm highly preferred but not required
  • Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Case Management software experienced preferred
  • Strong typing skills
  • Dictation transcription experience is a plus
  • Experience requesting medical records via CIOX and MRO preferred
  • Bilingual (Portuguese and English or Spanish and English) preferred but not required
