Project Management & Business Operations Intern — Medical Device Company

Sound Imaging is a medical device company serving the MRI and radiology industry. We are looking for a motivated and highly organized student or early-career candidate to join us as a Project Management & Business Operations Intern.

This role is ideal for someone who has already demonstrated leadership in a real operational setting, such as managing large student organization projects, serving as an executive board member in a business club or campus organization, coordinating events, leading teams, managing timelines, or organizing complex group initiatives.

The selected candidate will work directly under a business development and project management lead at Sound Imaging and receive hands-on training. During the initial period, you will be trained on our products, current projects, internal workflows, communication standards, and project tracking systems. As you improve, you will be trusted with more ownership over active projects, follow-ups, timelines, and deliverables.

This is not a passive internship. We are looking for someone who can take messy information, scattered notes, meetings, conversations, and ideas and help turn them into organized action items, clear next steps, timelines, and completed deliverables.

Expected Responsibilities

  • Support project management across sales, partnerships, marketing, operations, and internal coordination.
  • Turn meeting notes, project ideas, and scattered information into clear task lists, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Help maintain project trackers, spreadsheets, follow-up lists, and accountability systems.
  • Prepare meeting summaries with key decisions, action items, owners, and deadlines.
  • Support preparation for partnership calls, vendor conversations, and internal meetings.
  • Research potential partners, vendors, customers, industry contacts, and business opportunities.
  • Help coordinate communication between internal team members, contractors, partners, and outside stakeholders.
  • Follow up on assigned tasks and help ensure projects continue moving forward.
  • Identify unclear next steps, missing information, or project bottlenecks.
  • Provide regular progress updates to your direct supervisor.
  • Gradually take ownership of specific workflows or smaller projects as training progresses.

Skills We Are Looking For

  • Strong organization and project management ability.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to take messy or incomplete information and create structure.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Comfort using Google Sheets, Excel, Google Docs, Notion, Trello, Asana, ClickUp, Monday.com, or similar tools.
  • Ability to track deadlines, owners, deliverables, and next steps.
  • Professional communication style when interacting with partners, vendors, or team members.
  • Strong follow-through and accountability.
  • Ability to work independently after receiving direction.
  • Comfortable asking clarifying questions when something is unclear.
  • Interest in business operations, project management, partnerships, healthcare, medical devices, startups, or entrepreneurship.

Minimum Requirements

  • Current college student, recent graduate, or early-career professional.
  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Prior leadership, project management, or operations experience in at least one setting, such as:
    • Executive board position in a student organization.
    • Business club, entrepreneurship club, consulting club, engineering club, healthcare club, or professional organization leadership.
    • Event planning or conference coordination.
    • Managing a group project with multiple stakeholders.
    • Leading a team, committee, campaign, or campus initiative.
    • Coordinating timelines, deliverables, budgets, sponsors, vendors, or partnerships.
  • Comfortable working with spreadsheets, documents, and project trackers.
  • Able to commit to consistent weekly availability.
  • Reliable, responsive, and able to complete assigned work on time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing large projects, events, club initiatives, competitions, conferences, sponsorships, partnerships, or cross-functional student teams.
  • Experience in a leadership role such as president, vice president, director, project lead, operations lead, event coordinator, or committee chair.
  • Experience communicating with external stakeholders, sponsors, vendors, partners, or professionals.
  • Interest in medical devices, healthcare, MRI/radiology, business development, or startup operations.
  • Experience with CRM systems, outreach tracking, sales operations, or partnership pipelines is a plus.
  • Engineering, business, healthcare, or entrepreneurship background is a plus.

Training Structure

The selected candidate will work directly under a business development and project management lead. You will be trained on:

  • Sound Imaging’s products and market.
  • Current sales, partnership, and operations projects.
  • How to organize messy projects into clear execution plans.
  • How to prepare professional meeting notes and next-step documents.
  • How to maintain project trackers and follow-up systems.
  • How to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • How to support partnership and business development workflows.

As you demonstrate reliability, organization, and strong execution, you may be given more responsibility and ownership over active projects.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is someone who has already shown they can lead, organize, and execute. This may be a student who has run a large club event, managed a sponsorship process, led an executive board, coordinated a competition team, organized a conference, or taken responsibility for a complicated project with many moving pieces.

We are looking for someone who does not need everything perfectly laid out before taking action. You should be able to clarify what matters, organize the next steps, and help move projects forward.
