SAU Student IT Summer Internship

The IT department is looking to hire intern(s) during the summer period. Over the summer, the intern(s) will have the opportunity to shadow and experience various task of an IT department

 

Qualifications Needed

  • Current SAU Student
  • Computer Science / Network Majors or Minors (Recommended)
  • Customer Service Skills (Recommended)
  • Prior Skills in Troubleshooting Technology (Recommended)

 

Work Tasks

 

As a summer intern, you will do the following:

  • Working at the front desk for walk-ins
  • Answering phone calls
  • Managing work tasks through ticketing system
  • Conducting basic troubleshooting
  • Password resets
  • Device & Equipment deployment
  • Inventory management

 

Summer exclusive projects

  • Over the summer, the IT department will work on a number of projects that would benefit from additional support. We are currently migrating from our current print service to a new vendor.

 

  • Additionally, we intend to migrate the data of SAUs and MMUs. This effort will require a significant amount of support to ensure a smooth transition of data and files between universities.

 

  • IT support will be required for a variety of events and conferences, including freshman orientation and education summer camp.

 

  • The network team will change network configurations, affecting how users connect to Wi-Fi. This covers student Wi-Fi, event Wi-Fi, guest Wi-Fi, and possibly VPN.

 

  • Several classrooms on campus will undergo extensive AV and computer upgrades. While swapping devices, we are conducting an inventory of all electronics on campus. This includes using new barcode stickers to track assets more efficiently
