Job Summary:
This position is a Simulation Education Specialist (SES) for HealthForce Kentucky in collaboration with Owensboro Community and Technical College. This position will interface with content experts/faculty to help them develop simulation-based training. This individual will be responsible for ensuring simulation standards are being upheld and providing options for the educators to get the most out of the equipment and experiences for their students. Essential duties and responsibilities:
The duties / responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Serve as a simulation content expert with those wanting to use new resources and new instructional methods. Each event will need to have a roadmap developed that is well planned and documented with a purpose and plan. Each event will take special consideration for the age of learner and appropriateness of the content for that learner group. 

• Integral in the success of the program is the balancing of resource allocation, availability, managing logistics, and ensuring events are completely prepared. 

• To meet accreditation standards while delivering simulation experiences facilitators/faculty must be trained at a functional level of simulation development, facilitation, debriefing, and evaluation. 

• This position will collaborate with course facilitators/faculty to develop and design curriculum that integrates best practices of simulation. 

• Other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements:

• Provide technical assistance, support, and training to faculty and staff in the use of simulation methodologies and equipment.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of equipment, curriculum, operations, and services.

• Coordinate with leadership to engage academic, community, and practice partnerships as they relate to the program.

• Collect, interpret, and report data related to learning outcomes of simulation exercises.

• Collaborate with faculty/staff educators on disseminating findings.

• Must be able to professionally and flexibly work independently and collaboratively with others.

• Ability to utilize appropriate and effective communication skills when working with others.

• Must possess excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills and positive interpersonal skills. 

• This position will work with age groups across the lifespan. 

• Plan and operate special events such as camps and Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs). 

• Skilled in or the ability to learn how to use databases and simulation equipment. 

• Frequent travel is possible, up to 75% of the time, and may require occasional overnight stays. Transportation and accommodation are provided or compensated. 

• Work may be required outside of usual working hours. 

• The job may resemble clinical work occasionally and lifting up to 50 pounds is required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, radiography, paramedicine or similar is required and six years of relevant work experience.

OR Associate’s degree in healthcare, radiography, paramedics or similar is require with eight years of relevant work experience. • Current, active, or previously held in good standing licensure in a clinical healthcare profession (e.g., RN, Paramedic, Radiologic Technologist, Respiratory Therapist, Social Work or similar) is required. 

• Prior experience with patient care is required.

• Certified Health Simulations educator (CHSE) is preferred.

• Prior experience in delivering simulation is preferred.

• Prior or current healthcare related certifications are preferred.
