Early Childhood Educator

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, supervise, and implement curriculum for the classroom based on the policies and philosophy of the school
  • Treat each child with dignity and respect while endeavoring to understand his/her unique personality and background
  • Gear the program to the needs of the individual child with concern for his/her interests, special talents, and individual style and pace of learning
  • Assist children in observing school rules and promote such rules by example, through positive reinforcement, and natural/logical consequences
  • Actively supervise children at all times, both indoor and outdoor play
  • Assist children at rest time (in appropriate classes) by promoting a restful and quiet atmosphere
  • Use the rest time for project preparation, housekeeping, and set-up
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe learning environment
  • Set up interest centers and prepare needed materials and supplies
  • Take responsibility for the cleanliness of the teacher’s storage area and keep office informed of supply needs
  • Establish and maintain a positive liaison with parents; conduct parent orientation at beginning of school year
  • Communicate appropriately with parents, children, staff, and community; maintain confidentiality of families and information
  • Assess and inform parents of each child’s progress; conduct conferences as need or requested by parents or Director
  • Maintain professional attitude and loyalty to the school
  • Awareness of emergency protocol for fire drills, earthquake, and code red/blue situations
  • Hiring 2s, 3s and 4s Teachers and Substitute Teachers
  • Minimum of 12+ Early Childhood Education (ECE) units
  • Infant/Toddler units are a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university preferred, AA Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field accepted
  • Familiar with Title 22 licensing requirements
