Street and Storm Drain Inspector/Streets Division

Monitor the street resurfacing and street repair on-site activities and inspect materials to ensure compliance with specifications; make field inspections to determine if projects are being constructed in accordance with plans and codes; perform basic measurement and engineering survey work; maintain records/information required for final acceptance of project; prepare written reports; attend meetings/workshops and other street and storm drain related duties. Must be able to assist in snow removal efforts when requested.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Two years of public works or site development construction experience
  • Experience as a construction foreman or in public works inspecting
  • MDE Certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
  • NRMCA Concrete ExteriorFlatwork Finisher Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Asphalt Institute PavingInspector certification (or comparable), or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Must possess driver’slicense.

A comparable amount of trainingand experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with roadway resurfacing.
  • Experience with concrete finishing.
  • Experience in construction management and knowledge of contract administration and pay estimates.
  • Working knowledge of methods for soil analysis,compaction, and densitytests.
  • Working knowledge of surveying and surveying methods.
  • Proficiency with MicrosoftOffice programs.

PAY RATE: $29.98 per hour
