Preschool Teacher

Position Summary:

The 4-Year-Old Preschool Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and Christ-centered learning environment that promotes the spiritual, social, emotional, physical, and academic development of preschool-aged children. The teacher models Christian values, integrates biblical principles into daily instruction, and partners with families to support each child's growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Spiritual Leadership

  • Demonstrate a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and serve as a Christian role model for students and families.
  • Integrate biblical truths, prayer, worship, and Christian character development into daily classroom activities.
  • Foster an environment that reflects Christ's love, grace, patience, and kindness.
  • Support the mission, vision, and statement of faith of the school.

Classroom Instruction

  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with the school's curriculum and kindergarten readiness goals.
  • Provide engaging learning experiences that promote language, literacy, math, science, social studies, fine arts, and motor development.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Monitor and assess student progress and maintain accurate records.

Classroom Management

  • Establish and maintain a positive, structured classroom environment.
  • Use age-appropriate behavior guidance techniques that encourage self-control, respect, and responsibility.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom.

Family Communication

  • Build positive relationships with parents and guardians.
  • Communicate regularly regarding student progress, classroom activities, and concerns.
  • Participate in parent conferences, school events, and family engagement activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding students and families.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Attend staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events as required.
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers and administration to support school goals.
  • Comply with all school policies, licensing regulations, and health and safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration.

Qualifications:

  • A personal commitment to the Christian faith and agreement with the school's mission and values.
  • Experience working with preschool-aged children preferred.
  • Degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to meet all state licensing and background check requirements.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, and actively engage with young children throughout the day.
  • Ability to supervise children indoors and outdoors.
