Job Summary
***This position may be eligible for relocation reimbursement and a hiring bonus of up to $2,500.***
The State of Minnesota – Direct Care & Treatment is seeking qualified and enthusiastic individuals to join our Forensic Services Dietitian Team.
The Forensic Services campus in St. Peter is comprised of the Forensic Mental Health Program and the Forensic Nursing Home. Forensic Services provides mental health evaluation and treatment services to individuals diagnosed with a mental illness who present a risk to public safety. This is a safe and secure treatment environment.
The Dietitian will provide Medical Nutrition Therapy. Responsibilities include:
- Provide high quality individualized care through the Nutritional Care Process
- Complete nutrition assessments, provide diet instructions/personalized counseling, set goals with the patients, and monitoring progress
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to develop personalized care plans
- Maintain assigned caseload while supporting cross coverage with the dietitian team
- Maintain patient information in the nutrition services software system
- Participate in quality initiatives including meal tray audits and continental breakfast audits per policy standards
- Facilitate group education classes with patient groups
- Opportunities for committee involvement across campus
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have the following qualifications:
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)/Registered Dietitian (RD) through the Commission on Dietetic Registration
- Licensed with the Minnesota Board of Dietetics and Nutrition Practice or license eligible
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Medical Nutrition Therapy and motivational interviewing
- Experience working with food service production, nutrition software systems, and electronic health records.
- Experience/familiarity with IDDSI (International Dysphagia Diet Standardization Initiative)
- Have experience in addressing nutritional needs following the Nutrition Care Process
- Strong interpersonal skills for patient care and multi-disciplinary team collaboration
