Christian School of York (CSY) is seeking to hire Preschool Teacher for the 26/27 school year. The lead teacher in is responsible to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for young children (PK4). The ideal candidate will implement age-appropriate educational activities that support children's cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and language development while fostering a love of learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and Preparation: In instructional planning, you are expected to:
- Help create the school’s curriculum maps and then translate the maps into specific end goals suitable to the age level and developmental needs of your students. This means teaching to the highest level and scaffolding and differentiating as needed.
- Select and use curricular materials and plan teaching/learning experiences that help each student achieve the stated end goals.
- Plan units that help students see wholeness and relevance in learning. It is important for students to see connections between the pieces of materials given.
- Plan lessons and choose content that connects biblical principles to concepts about God's world on a daily basis.
- Plan a variety of teaching strategies to match the learning styles of the students, considering Bloom’s Taxonomy by integrating higher level thinking when appropriate, and utilizing a KWL chart for knowledge building.
- Plan activities and assessments that are developmentally appropriate and embrace the preschool’s play-based philosophy, including hands-on activities, free choice opportunities, and open-ended art experiences.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field.
- Previous experience working with preschool-aged children preferred.
- Knowledge of child development principles and early learning standards.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
