ABOUT THE ROLE

Our employees are our most valuable resource. This position will serve individuals of all ages who have multiple disabilities and challenging behaviors, for the purpose of providing a safe and successful learning environment. Using client centered assessments and data to guide program-based decisions, the Registered Behavior Technician will work with individuals and their stakeholders to provide individualized services through a collaborative team approach. The Registered Behavior Technician will receive supervision, oversight, and training on skills acquisition programs and behavior reduction strategies from a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst in order to ensure successful implementation of programs.

You will play a vital role to ensure that AIDB’s culture of inclusion is reinforced by implementing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programs and plans that promote the provision of comprehensive educational services to sensory impaired individuals.  Through a collaborative team approach, you will have an opportunity to use your professional expertise to provide services and support that champion the limitless potential of all individuals. 

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Basic Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification: Possess an active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) or become BACB certified within ninety (90) days of employment. Training certification must occur through a designated program identified by RISE Autism.
  • Experience: One (1) year of experience working in an academic, residential, and/or behavioral health setting working with individuals who are deaf, blind, deafblind, and/or multi-disabled.
  • Licensure: Valid driver’s license and eligible to be insured by AIDB insurance carriers (driving accommodations may be made for applicants with an exceptionality).

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Student Instruction & Training

  • Behavior Analytical Techniques: Apply evidence-based behavior analytical techniques and teaching procedures that will promote communication, independence, and social skills.
  • Program Implementation: Implement individualized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programs, skill acquisition programs, and behavior reduction strategies under the guidance of a BCBA.
  • Crisis Management: Successfully complete the Managing Crisis Safely program or other crisis prevention program as designated by administration within the first six (6) months of employment.

Administration & Observation

  • Data Collection: Maintain accurate and detailed behavior and skill acquisition data during sessions, ensuring all data entry is submitted into the designated electronic data management system.
  • ABA Assessments: Work collaboratively with a BCBA to assist with formal Applied Behavior Analysis assessments.
  • Technological Literacy: Demonstrate a working knowledge of computer technology, including Windows operating systems, iOS, and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Workplace Agility: Demonstrate good judgment, individual initiative, and the ability to remain motivating, creative, and flexible during sessions.

Outreach & Development

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Build and maintain continuous rapport and collaborate with staff, students, parents, and secondary stakeholders through a team approach.
  • Program Support: Demonstrate willingness to provide regular support with alternative RISE initiatives outside of the primary RBT position.

Professional Development and Certifications

  • Credential Maintenance: Must continuously maintain active RBT certification from the BACB as outlined in the BACB RBT Handbook.
  • Sign Language Proficiency: A sign language proficiency level of INTERMEDIATE according to the AIDB evaluation system must be obtained within the first twenty-four (24) months of employment. A level of INTERMEDIATE PLUS must be obtained within the first thirty-six (36) months of employment.
  • Core AIDB Training: Complete AIDB online training Basics of Blindness and Low Vision / Deaf 101 within twelve (12) months of employment.
  • Methodology Growth: Attend workshops, conferences, and other staff development activities, traveling by air and/or car, with some occasional overnight stays required.
  • Ethics & Compliance: Must maintain high ethical standards and strict confidentiality throughout all duties.

 

Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB. SALARY: $22.85 - $27.43   

 

C2 Scale 41 Rank 197 Days

This is an exempt position and is not subject to overtime and/or compensatory time provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Direct deposit is required.
