Intake Specialist

The Kirby G. Smith Law Firm provides affordable, aggressive representation to private and public employees in matters such as discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination. We are seeking a full-time intake specialist / legal assistant / administrative assistant to join our growing team here in the Atlanta office. This is not your standard administrative assistant position where you ask generic screening questions and forward information to an attorney. Here, you will be trained on the nuances of both how a case works and what makes it successful so you can properly evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of potential cases. This makes the job a fantastic fit for someone interested in pursuing a legal career to eventually become a paralegal or attorney.
Primary responsibilities include being the initial point of contact for new clients as they discuss their case and learn about our firm. You will be responsible for scheduling, payment processing, and document processing during new client intake. Secondary responsibilities will include office management and legal assistant work, including some legal writing. The position requires a high level of organization, professional demeanor, and a friendly attitude. Customer service and/or sales experience is a plus but not required. Training will be provided regarding our areas of law and our document management and payment processing systems.
This is a great position for someone who is interested in the legal field, comfortable being on the phone the majority of the day, and is willing to learn. You'll have the chance to help hundreds of people per year right wrongs at a time of great need in their personal and professional lives.
Salary and Benefits
Base pay is $19.50 per hour commiserate with experience, plus commissions on every case you bring into the firm and additional commissions on cases that resolve in the client's favor. Total compensation with commissions averages in the $45,000 per year range and we continue to pay commissions under some circumstances even if you leave to further your education.
