Play & Learn Northshore Academy is looking for a passionate, creative, and nurturing Lead Teacher for our combined Threes and Fours classroom. This is a full-time position ideal for a recent graduate who is ready to grow with a small, close-knit team and make a lasting impact on young children and their families. You will be the primary teacher for a combined preschool classroom, designing and delivering an engaging, play-based learning environment.
What You’ll Do
• Plan and implement a play-based curriculum aligned with Louisiana Early Childhood Standards (LaCECS) for 3- and 4-year-olds.
• Create a warm, engaging, and beautifully organized classroom environment that invites exploration and wonder.
• Observe and document children’s learning through photos, portfolios, and anecdotal notes.
• Build genuine, trusting relationships with children and families through open communication and daily connection.
• Maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing classroom consistent with PLNA’s health and safety procedures and Louisiana licensing requirements.
• Collaborate with the PLNA director and teaching team to support whole-center programming and school culture.
• Participate in parent communication, conferences, and community events.
• Maintain required documentation including attendance, health checks, and incident reports.
What We’re Looking For
Required:
• High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or a degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field is a plus
• Genuine love for young children and a belief in the power of play-based learning
• Strong communication skills and a warm, professional presence with families
• Ability to work collaboratively in a small team environment
• Must meet Louisiana licensing background check and health requirements
Preferred (not required):
• Familiarity with play-based or project-based learning approaches
• Experience working with preschool-age children in a licensed childcare or school setting
• Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or willingness to obtain one
• CPR/First Aid certification (training provided if needed)
