3-Month Evaluation Track to Battery Cell Validation Engineer I

Position Summary

Nanotech Energy, Inc. is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Battery Cell Validation Assistant to support cell testing, validation, and development activities for advanced lithium-ion batteries.

This is an entry-level, laboratory-based position designed as a 3-month evaluation-track role. The candidate will initially be hired as a Battery Cell Validation Assistant. Upon successful completion of the 3-month performance review, the candidate may be promoted to Battery Cell Validation Engineer I.

This hands-on role focuses on battery cell formation, electrochemical testing, physical measurements, data validation, and reporting. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a repetitive laboratory environment, following standard operating procedures, handling test samples carefully, and communicating observations clearly to supervisors, scientists, and engineering team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Place lithium-ion cells into semi-automated formation and test equipment.
  • Perform physical and electrochemical measurements on battery cells according to established SOPs.
  • Record, validate, process, and summarize test data with a high level of accuracy.
  • Use statistical and data analysis tools to evaluate trends, identify anomalies, and prepare reports.
  • Create PowerPoint presentations and data summaries as needed to communicate results.
  • Communicate issues observed in samples, test processes, equipment, or documentation to supervisors in a timely manner.
  • Operate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment, process equipment, and instrumentation.
  • Follow all safety protocols, laboratory guidelines, and quality procedures.
  • Provide feedback on existing procedures and help identify missing, unclear, or incomplete documentation.
  • Support research and development activities under the guidance of scientists and engineers.

Key Qualifications

  • Previous experience conducting tests, processing data, and summarizing results.
  • Strong attention to detail when handling samples, recording data, and reviewing test results.
  • Practical understanding of statistical tools and data analysis/reporting software.
  • Ability to follow documented procedures consistently and accurately.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to report issues clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to work effectively in a repetitive laboratory or production environment.
  • Hands-on experience operating, cleaning, and maintaining laboratory or process equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and self-improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of lithium-ion batteries, battery materials, or battery cell manufacturing.
  • Experience with lithium-ion cell builds, cell assembly, formation, or testing.
  • Familiarity with quality control methods used to evaluate repeatability in assembly or testing processes.
  • Hands-on experience with instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with wiring and soldering.
  • Prior safety training in a laboratory, manufacturing, R&D, or production environment.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics required.
  • Degrees in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields are preferred.
  • Hands-on laboratory, testing, manufacturing, or instrumentation experience is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting Pay Range: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

This role begins as a 3-month evaluation-track position. Upon successful completion of the evaluation period and transition to official employee status, the employee will be eligible for company benefits, including:
