Optometrist Opportunity

     I have decided to more aggressively pursue employing a third optometrist and/or selling my half of our downtown New Philadelphia optometric practice (at 163 West High Ave., New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663).  I am a 1980 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Optometry and I am in practice with Dr. Matt Hurst (another graduate of The Ohio State University College of Optometry).  We were both born and raised in New Philadelphia, and besides living in Columbus, Ohio during our college years, we both have been lifetime residents of New Philadelphia.  We were a three O.D. practice until our senior third optometrist, Dr. Zehnder, retired a few years ago.  Our practice, established by Dr. Zehnder over 60 years ago, has been in need of a third O.D. ever since Dr. Zehnder retired, but due to COVID, and the present climate of private practice optometry, we have been unable to find an optometrist(s) to either work as an employee and/or buy into our practice.  My schedule is presently solidly booked through September, and well into October, 2026.  The retention of my patient base, after 46 years of optometric practice (at the same location), is dependent on hiring another optometrist(s) at our practice. This will allow our practice to get our very busy patient schedule under control, provide a rewarding and prosperous career opportunity, and allow me to achieve my retirement goals.  I am reaching out to several optometric colleges, through Handshake, to hopefully find one or possibly two graduating 2025 optometrists to step into a very rewarding private practice opportunity .                                                                                                                                       
     Again, our practice could easily incorporate and provide a great opportunity for another optometrist or even two O.D.'s (husband/wife??), buying my half, and both either working full-time or one full-time and the other part-time.  I am in the process of hiring up to 3 different headhunters to help find that opportunistic optometrist(s) to become a part of our practice.
