Microbiology / Molecular Biologists
Freelance PHD Expert - Microbiology / Molecular Biologists
At Uber AI Solutions, we are scaling enterprise-grade data platforms and automation workflows. We are launching a high-velocity sprint to process, validate, and compile complex biological instruction sets. We are seeking elite, PhD-level Molecular Biologists to operate at the intersection of biological science and automated scale.
As a Molecular Biology Consultant, you will not be working in a wet lab. Instead, you will own the in silico architecture of DNA/RNA sequences. You will be responsible for translating high-level biological requirements into highly accurate, error-free constructs (primers, plasmids, gRNAs, and HDR repair templates) ready for high-throughput synthesis.
This role requires uncompromising technical craftsmanship, a deep understanding of genetic engineering rules, and the ability to maintain a blistering execution pace without sacrificing quality.
What You’ll Do
- High-Throughput In Silico Architecture: Architect and design 50–100 bespoke DNA/RNA sequences—including custom cloning plasmids, multiplexed PCR primers, guide RNAs (gRNAs), and homology-directed repair (HDR) templates.
- Algorithmic Validation: Rigorously evaluate designs for execution safety, optimizing melting temperatures ($T_m$), minimizing secondary structures/hairpins, and ensuring strict off-target mitigation for RNA/CRISPR constructs.
- Standardized Schema Delivery: Deliver flawless, annotated sequence data (FASTA/GenBank formats) mapped strictly to our internal data schemas, ensuring seamless handoff to downstream downstream automation engines.
- Peer Optimization & QC: Act as an internal "code reviewer" for data integrity, validating restriction enzyme sites, Gibson assembly overlaps, and selection markers to guarantee a 100% downstream wet-lab success rate.
What We’re Looking For
Basic Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Bioengineering, Bioinformatics, or a highly related quantitative biological field.
- Proven Publication Record: Demonstrated domain expertise with first-author or significant publications in top-tier peer-reviewed journals or preprint servers (e.g., Nature, bioRxiv, CSHLP, eLife).
- Advanced Suite Proficiency: Expert-level mastery of computational molecular biology suites such as Benchling, SnapGene, VectorNTI, or similar enterprise tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- High-Throughput Experience: Background managing large-scale library designs (e.g., pooled CRISPR screens, variant libraries, or 96/384-well plate automation layouts).
- Computational Fluency: Experience utilizing Python (Biopython), automated script pipelines, or API integrations within Benchling to accelerate batch sequence generation is a major plus.
- Data Rigor: An obsessive eye for detail; a track record of treating biological design with the same version control and QC frameworks applied to software engineering.
