Contribute to the social awareness campaign for Manifest Destiny by Pelumi Olatinpo, a groundbreaking historical and socio-political commentary examining America at 250, timed for the nation's milestone anniversary. Your role will be to spread the word about this genre-crossing work on your campus by networking with peers and professors. By developing a variety of initiatives, you will be expected to push Manifest Destiny as a classroom teaching resource and host engaging discussions surrounding the work. The time commitment is 5-7 hours/week. This is a remote and voluntary position. You’ll earn resume experience in civic engagement and marketing.

We focus on socio-conscious pieces that inspire thought and discussion. Our mission is to foster a more inclusive and understanding society through the power of the written word. 
 

What You’ll Do:

  • Execute campus awareness campaigns by developing your own initiatives with assistance from company resources
  • Organize an impactful book club discussion with your peers and professors
  • Connect with professors in person and via email to confirm use of Manifest Destiny in their course as a teaching resource
  • Track and report campaign metrics in weekly recurring meetings and attend additional brainstorming sessions

Requirements:

  • 5-7 hours/week availability (September-December 2026)
  • interest in political commentary, history, social justice, or marketing
  • Strong written  and verbal communication
  • Self-motivated and organized
  • Must read the book (provided free)
  • Passion for civic dialogue
  • Interest in American identity, immigration, or social issues
  • Ability to organize campus events

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently an active member of student council or a civic student organization

 

The Ideal Candidate will excel at building rapport with a diverse range of people and is an excellent verbal and written communicator. They are a natural leader and are able to take initiative to come up with deliverables that work towards achieving the internship goals. A team player, they are willing to think outside the box to come up with solutions to a problem and aren't afraid of trying new skills. They are punctual to weekly meetings and communicate ahead of time when they have a conflict. The ideal candidate has the capacity to prioritize the internship alongside their academic and extracurricular responsibilities.
