Teaching Assistant

🏫 Quality Assured Teaching (QAT)

About QAT

Quality Assured Teaching is a Sheffield-based supply teaching agency supplying staff across South Yorkshire secondary schools. Founded and run by qualified teachers, QAT is different from a typical agency: every placement is backed by regular observations, appraisals, and hands-on director-level mentorship, so you're supported to develop — not just placed and forgotten.

The Role

We're looking for caring, patient Teaching Assistants to support students' learning and development across our partner schools. You'll work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to help students access the curriculum, stay engaged, and thrive — whether that's in general classroom support, 1:1 work, or supporting students with specific additional needs.

🕒 We offer flexible working patterns to suit different needs — this can be full-time (Monday–Friday, full academic year in a set placement), part-time, or varied day-to-day cover depending on what works for you and what our partner schools need at the time.

âś… Key Responsibilities

  • Support individual students or small groups with set learning tasks under the guidance of the class teacher
  • Assist students with SEND, EAL, or additional needs, adapting support to suit individual requirements
  • Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and calm classroom environment
  • Monitor and encourage positive student behaviour in line with the school's policies
  • Support with recording student progress and feeding back to teaching staff
  • Build positive, professional relationships with school staff, students, and QAT's team
  • Attend any required inductions, training, or safeguarding briefings for each placement school

What We're Looking For

  • Experience working with young people in a school, education, or similar setting
  • Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills
  • Experience or willingness to support students with SEND or additional needs
  • A calm, adaptable, and proactive approach
  • Right to work in the UK

🌟 What QAT Offers

  • Competitive day rates
  • Regular placements across a range of well-established South Yorkshire secondary schools
  • Ongoing support, feedback, and mentorship from a team of qualified, practising teachers
  • Opportunities for regular, set placements (Monday–Friday, full academic year) as well as ad hoc day-to-day work
  • A genuinely quality-focused agency — not just a numbers business
