Position Summary

The Training Specialist supports staff onboarding, training, competency development, and ongoing professional growth. This role helps ensure team members understand company expectations, clinical and administrative workflows, documentation standards, client service procedures, telehealth expectations, and role-specific responsibilities.

The Training Specialist provides training support through both in-person and telehealth formats. This may include modeling procedures, reviewing workflows, observing staff performance, providing structured feedback, supporting training checklists, and assisting with retraining when additional support is needed.

Lead Training Specialist, Clinical Director, or assigned supervisor

Supervises

This position does not directly supervise staff unless otherwise assigned.

Essential Duties

  • Support new hire onboarding and role-specific training.
  • Provide training on company policies, documentation standards, service expectations, and professional conduct.
  • Review clinical and administrative workflows with staff.
  • Model appropriate implementation of assigned procedures and job duties.
  • Observe staff performance and provide supportive, structured feedback.
  • Track training progress, checklist completion, and competency development.
  • Support staff retraining when performance concerns, documentation errors, or workflow concerns are identified.
  • Assist with developing and updating training materials, guides, handouts, and competency tools.
  • Communicate training concerns, barriers, or support needs to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Reinforce expectations related to attendance, communication, documentation, client care, telehealth participation, and professionalism.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to identify individual and team training needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow all company, client, and HIPAA-related privacy expectations.

Telehealth and Regional Support Duties

  • Conduct virtual onboarding sessions, staff trainings, and follow-up meetings.
  • Provide remote training on documentation systems, scheduling tools, company platforms, and workflow expectations.
  • Support clients, staff, or teams assigned outside of the Training Specialist’s primary geographic region through telehealth when appropriate and approved.
  • Provide virtual observation, coaching, feedback, documentation review, and follow-up support for out-of-region assignments.
  • Model telehealth professionalism, including punctuality, appropriate appearance, privacy, confidentiality, and clear communication.
  • Ensure telehealth sessions are conducted in a private, secure, and professional environment.
  • Assist staff with understanding expectations for virtual service delivery, remote communication, and online documentation.
  • Document telehealth training contacts, attendance, and training outcomes as required.

In-Person Support Expectations

  • For clients, staff, or teams assigned within the Training Specialist’s primary region, in-person support may be expected.
  • In-person support may include direct observation, modeling, coaching, competency checks, staff training, and follow-up support.
  • At minimum, in-person support may be expected once per month, based on client need, staff training needs, supervisor direction, and operational priorities.
  • Additional in-person support may be required when there are concerns related to staff performance, client safety, service quality, training needs, or implementation of company expectations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in ABA, behavioral health, education, training, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to teach, model, and explain procedures clearly.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback professionally.
  • Strong organization and follow-through.
  • Comfort using telehealth platforms, email, shared documents, and electronic documentation systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with supervisors, clinicians, administrative staff, and direct service staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting staff onboarding, training, or competency development.
  • Experience providing feedback, modeling job duties, or supporting implementation fidelity.
  • Familiarity with ABA service delivery, clinical documentation, and staff training systems.
  • Strong writing skills and ability to organize training information clearly.
  • Demonstrated professionalism when supporting staff in both in-person and telehealth settings.
