Chief Financial Officer [Partner/Co-Founder]
Position Overview
The Chief Financial Officer will serve as a partner-level member of BalanX Bio’s leadership team and will work closely with the founders and executive team on financial strategy, fundraising preparation, investor relations, budgeting, financial planning, and company growth. This is not only a traditional finance role, but also a strategic partner position for someone who can help lead the company’s fundraising efforts and support BalanX Bio through its early-stage development and future funding process.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in an early-stage startup environment and willing to take ownership of both financial operations and fundraising-related responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the company’s fundraising strategy, including investor outreach, fundraising planning, investor communications, and funding timeline development.
- Prepare and review investor-facing financial materials, including financial models, projections, funding plans, use-of-funds summaries, and financial sections of pitch decks.
- Work closely with the founders and executive team to identify potential investors, strategic partners, funding opportunities, grants, accelerators, and other capital sources.
- Support investor due diligence by organizing financial records, company documentation, financial assumptions, and related materials.
- Develop and manage the company’s financial strategy, budgeting process, financial projections, and cash flow planning.
- Advise the executive team on financial decision-making, cost control, resource allocation, business model development, and long-term growth strategy.
- Help establish internal financial policies, accounting processes, reporting systems, and financial controls.
- Review and organize company financial records, expenses, invoices, and financial documentation.
- Coordinate with accountants, legal advisors, external consultants, investors, and other professional service providers when needed.
- Assist with compensation planning, equity-related financial considerations, cap table planning, and long-term operating plans.
- Identify financial risks and provide recommendations to improve company stability, compliance, and sustainability.
- Participate in leadership meetings and provide regular updates on fundraising progress, financial planning, and company financial status.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a CFO, finance executive, fundraising advisor, investment banker, financial consultant, controller, startup finance lead, or similar leadership role.
- Strong understanding of startup finance, fundraising strategy, financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Experience with investor relations, venture fundraising, capital planning, due diligence, grants, accelerators, or startup funding is strongly preferred.
- Ability to support or lead investor outreach and help communicate the company’s financial and business value to potential investors.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and business operations.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, confidentiality, and long-term commitment.
- Experience in biotechnology, healthcare, AI, technology, venture capital, or wellness industries is a plus.
Preferred Skills
- Experience preparing investor decks, financial models, fundraising materials, and due diligence documents.
- Familiarity with equity structures, cap tables, startup valuation, investor reporting, and funding negotiations.
- Existing investor, venture capital, angel investor, accelerator, grant, or strategic partnership network is preferred.
- Ability to build financial systems and fundraising processes from the ground up.
- Strong strategic judgment and willingness to work closely with founders as a partner-level contributor.
- Experience working with remote or international teams.
Partner-Level Role
This CFO position is intended to be a partner-level leadership role within BalanX Bio. The CFO will be expected to contribute not only as a finance professional, but also as a strategic partner in fundraising, investor relations, company planning, and long-term growth. The role requires ownership, initiative, and a willingness to help build the company during its early stage.
Compensation
Compensation, equity, and contract structure will be discussed with qualified candidates based on experience, expected responsibilities, time commitment, fundraising involvement, and company stage. This position may include a fractional, contract, advisory, equity-based, or partner-level structure depending on mutual fit and company needs.
