Position Summary
Higher Calling Christian Academy is seeking an energetic, caring, and dependable Afterschool Enrichment Teacher to join our team. This position plays an important role in supporting our preschool classrooms during the day by providing teacher breaks before transitioning to lead our dynamic afterschool program.
Our afterschool program focuses on academic success, character development, leadership, and enrichment through engaging, hands-on learning experiences. The ideal candidate enjoys working with school-age children and is passionate about helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or GED (college coursework in Education, Child Development, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field is preferred)
- Experience working with school-age children
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with children and families
- Must pass all required Georgia background checks
- Ability to meet Georgia Bright from the Start licensing requirements
Preferred:
- Experience working with children with special needs
- Experience collaborating with ABA therapists or supporting students receiving ABA services
- CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
Responsibilities
Preschool Support (11:00 a.m. – School Dismissal)
- Provide classroom coverage and teacher breaks throughout the day.
- Assist teachers with classroom routines and daily activities.
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and engaging learning environment.
- Support children's social-emotional development using positive guidance techniques.
Afterschool Program
- Welcome students as they arrive from local elementary schools.
- Provide homework assistance and academic support.
- Facilitate engaging enrichment activities and extracurricular programming.
- Lead activities focused on:
- STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics)
- Financial Literacy
- Leadership Development
- Character Education
- Creative Arts and Hands-on Learning
- Coordinate activities with community partners and special guest presenters.
- Encourage teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving.
- Supervise indoor and outdoor recreation.
- Maintain a positive, structured, and engaging environment for all students.
Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with administration, classroom teachers, families, and community partners.
- Support students with diverse learning needs.
- Collaborate with ABA therapists and other support professionals as appropriate to ensure student success.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development.
