Accounting Intern

Commando is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Intern to join our Finance team. This internship offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced business environment, providing exposure to accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.

Working alongside experienced accounting professionals, you'll gain practical knowledge of accounting operations while contributing to meaningful projects that support the day-to-day success of the business. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a strong foundation in accounting and finance.

Internship Details

Internship Period: January 2027 – March 2027

Early Start Opportunity: Candidates who are available to begin training before January are encouraged to apply. We welcome the opportunity to provide an earlier start date to support onboarding and knowledge transfer.
 

What You'll Do

As an Accounting Intern, you'll support a variety of accounting functions, including:

  • Apply and post customer payments, credits, and daily accounting transactions
  • Partner with our Receiving and Supply Chain teams to reconcile invoices, packing lists, and ERP system data
  • Assist in reviewing and resolving sales tax discrepancies
  • Support the import and maintenance of wholesale sales data in Avalara
  • Assist with monthly bank reconciliations and journal entries, including depreciation and prepaid expenses
  • Participate in month-end close activities by conducting research, preparing reports, and supporting financial reconciliations
  • Monitor and respond to finance department email inquiries
  • Assist with annual 1099 preparation and external audit support
  • Collaborate with team members across departments to support accounting and business operations
  • Contribute to process improvements and other special projects as assigned

What We're Looking For

  • Currently pursuing (or recently completed) a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Professional communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and eager to learn
