Vintage Bridal Sewist
We’re looking for a highly skilled sewist specializing in couture-level tailoring, garment construction, alterations, and restoration to work with our collection of antique and vintage bridal pieces.
The ideal person has a keen eye for design, impeccable attention to detail, and exceptional craftsmanship, with the technical skill and sensitivity required to work with delicate, rare, and one-of-a-kind garments.
Skills & Experience
Experience in couture, bridal, vintage, or high-end garment construction is highly preferred.
Ideal skills include:
— Couture fittings & alterations
— Custom garment construction
— Corsetry & structured garment construction
— Advanced hand sewing & finishing techniques
— Hand beading & appliqué
— Working with delicate fabrics, lace, silk & embellishment
— Antique & vintage garment repair and restoration
— Thoughtful modifications and reworking of existing pieces
— Understanding of garment structure, fit, draping & construction
Responsibilities
— Alter, repair, restore, and thoughtfully modify antique and vintage bridal pieces
— Assess garments and recommend the best approach while preserving their original design and integrity
— Execute alterations and finishing to a high-end, professional standard
— Work independently from your own studio or workspace
— Communicate clearly around timelines, feasibility, and any concerns that arise during the process
— Pick up and return garments as needed
Minimum Requirements
— Los Angeles-based
— Must have a car and reliable transportation
— Professional-level sewing and garment construction experience
— Strong hand-sewing skills
— Confidence working with delicate, vintage, and one-of-a-kind garments
— Access to your own sewing equipment and workspace
— Availability for ongoing freelance work, with several pieces each week
— Reliable, organized, and able to meet agreed-upon deadlines
