Acrylic Paint Instructor

The Happy Brush Art Studio is seeking a talented, creative and outgoing Acrylic Paint & Sip Artist/Instructor to join our growing team in Northern New Jersey.

We are currently operating as a mobile art studio, with plans to move into a permanent studio location soon. This is a part-time position with the opportunity for more consistent hours as we grow.

STRONG ACRYLIC-ON-CANVAS PAINTING SKILLS ARE REQUIRED.

The selected artist must be able to look through our existing gallery, independently recreate a selected painting, determine the colors and color mixtures needed, and confidently teach the painting step by step to beginner groups.

This is not only about artistic ability. We are looking for someone with a cheerful, patient, energetic and charismatic personality who enjoys working with people and can create a fun, welcoming and engaging experience.

Our Paint & Sip events are often themed, so instructors should be comfortable getting into the spirit of the theme and helping bring the experience to life. Applicants must also be comfortable teaching both adults and children.

In addition to acrylic painting, experience with drawing, sketching, mixed media, crafts or other creative activities is a plus. These additional skills do not replace the acrylic painting requirement.

As The Happy Brush moves into its permanent studio, we plan to expand into additional creative classes for adults and children. This is a great opportunity for an artist who wants to use their talents, develop new class ideas and grow with a creative business.

We provide all art supplies and materials. You bring the artistic talent and personality; The Happy Brush provides the supplies, scheduled events, clients, marketing and event coordination.

Requirements:

• Strong acrylic-on-canvas painting skills
• Ability to independently recreate paintings from our gallery
• Comfortable teaching beginner groups step by step
• Outgoing, patient, personable and engaging personality
• Comfortable teaching adults and children
• Flexible weekday, evening and weekend availability
• Own reliable transportation is required
• Comfortable traveling to event locations generally within approximately 15 miles of West Orange, NJ
• Available to start as soon as possible

Compensation: $25–$35 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. Travel time and mileage are not compensated.

Applications without examples of acrylic-on-canvas work will not be considered.

Qualified applicants who move forward will be required to recreate a painting selected from The Happy Brush gallery and submit a short video demonstrating how they would teach a portion of the painting. The video is primarily intended to evaluate communication and teaching style, personality, energy, confidence and ability to engage an audience.
