Position: Custodian


Wage: $17.30 to $18.80 per hour (Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)


Hours: Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week

Night Shift, Including weekends- Shifts vary


Location: Gordon Family YMCA, Sumner, WA

As a Custodian, you will create and maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary facility for all members to enjoy. If hired for this position, you will be responsible for duties such as cleaning, sanitizing, mopping, dusting, and trash removal.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to learn and safely operate equipment required to perform assigned tasks.
  • Ability to learn and follow proper cleaning procedures and techniques for facility maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other written materials.
  • Ability to report, document, and track maintenance and repair requests.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and the use of custodial, maintenance, and basic office equipment.
  • Basic understanding of proper care, upkeep, and handling of equipment.
  • Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
  • You are committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Interior cleaning including, but not limited to, vacuuming carpets, cleaning windows, cleaning spills, sweeping or mopping floors, removing scuff marks from walls and floors, cleaning bathrooms and locker rooms, gum removal, dusting, odor control, and trash removal.
  • Replace soap, towels, and other supplies.
  • Assist other departments and branches as needed for ongoing or special events.
  • Record and report all needed repairs and additional cleaning needs on assignment list. Report to supervisor conditions that require an immediate response. Repair and clean as directed.
  • Ensure YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
  • Operate all equipment in a safe and proper manner. 
  • Use proper techniques and procedures and maintain a clean work area to ensure safe working practices and environment.
