Hourly Range: $15–$18 per hour
Position Summary
The Sports Coach is responsible for creating a positive, engaging, and supportive environment where students can develop athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, and a lifelong love for sports. The coach will lead practices and games, build strong relationships with students, families, and fellow instructors, and provide individualized instruction to support each student’s unique goals and abilities.
The Sports Coach plays a vital role in delivering high-quality sports education by fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, physical fitness, and confidence in students.
Teaching Assignment
Sports Coaches will be assigned to coach one or more sports (e.g., lacrosse, soccer, basketball, pickleball, etc.) based on enrollment needs and the coach’s expertise. Teaching assignments may change throughout the year based on scheduling, student enrollment, and organizational needs.
Schedule & Hours Expectations
Work schedules vary depending on student enrollment, practice schedules, and game/event requirements.
Typical Coaching Hours:

Monday – Friday -2 DAYS OUT OF THE WEEK
- Earliest start time: 3:00 PM
- Latest end time: 4:40 PM

- Games, tournaments, or special events may require weekend availability.
Weekly coaching hours vary based on student enrollment, practice plans, and organizational needs.
Coaches are expected to arrive prepared for each session and remain available for scheduled coaching hours.
Training Requirements
In addition to coaching responsibilities, Sports Coaches are expected to participate in ongoing professional development.
Initial Training
- Training dates and onboarding schedules will be determined by the Program Director.
Ongoing Training
- Attend regular staff meetings and instructor workshops.
- Participate in curriculum planning and collaborative coaching discussions.
- Attend required professional development sessions and sports-related events as scheduled.
- Stay updated on sport-specific rules, safety protocols, and coaching best practices.
Attendance & Availability Expectations
Sports Coaches are expected to:
- Arrive on time and prepared for all scheduled practices and games.
- Maintain reliable attendance and provide adequate notice for schedule changes or absences.
- Communicate professionally with students, parents, and staff.
- Demonstrate flexibility for tournaments, games, and special events.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Sports Instruction
- Lead private or group sports sessions (e.g., lacrosse, soccer, basketball, pickleball) with a focus on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Develop individualized training plans based on student goals and experience levels.
- Teach fundamental techniques, game strategies, and rules for each sport.
- Select appropriate drills, exercises, and game scenarios to enhance learning.
- Encourage consistent practice habits, physical fitness, and athletic growth.
Student Development
- Foster confidence, teamwork, discipline, and self-expression through sports.
- Provide constructive feedback in a positive and encouraging manner.
- Track student progress and celebrate milestones.
- Prepare students for games, tournaments, or competitions as appropriate.
Program Support
- Maintain accurate practice schedules, attendance records, and student progress logs.
- Communicate regularly with students and parents regarding progress and goals.
- Assist with sports clinics, tournaments, showcases, and community events.
- Help maintain organized practice spaces and equipment.
Professional Development
- Continue developing coaching methods and sports-specific knowledge.
- Participate in staff training and collaborative planning.
- Implement feedback and demonstrate professionalism and continuous improvement.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to demonstrate drills, techniques, and active participation during practices and games.
- Ability to stand, move, and engage physically for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry sports equipment (e.g., cones, balls, nets) as needed.
- Ability to adapt to indoor or outdoor environments (e.g., gyms, fields, courts).

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience coaching one or more sports (e.g., lacrosse, soccer, basketball, pickleball).
- Strong knowledge of sport-specific techniques, rules, and safety protocols.
- Ability to teach students of varying ages and experience levels.
- CPR/First Aid certification (preferred but not required).
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Experience preparing students for games, tournaments, or competitions.
- Ability to use scheduling software and basic computer applications.
