Starting Salary: $20.18
This is a Safety Sensitive Position.
About this Position
The part-time Park Ranger assists the full-time ranger with a variety of projects around Arcadia Lake. This includes helping educate the public, developing plans/programs, and performing practical tasks to maintain the grounds/facilities.
This position works roughly 30 hours per week on average, with more hours during peak season and fewer in the off season.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Up to 2 years of related experience and/or training (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in the following:
- Law enforcement
- Natural resources
- Environmental conservation
- Participation in a 2 year Park Ranger training program (preferred)
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
Responsibilities
- Conduct special and routine patrols of areas to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
- Inspect facilities, note any violations, and take appropriate action if needed
- Collect and record information on watershed environments
- Provide information to the public and relevant agencies
- Respond to emergency calls
- Investigate accidents and complaints
- Perform search and rescue missions, rendering first aid as needed
- Collect fees and maintain financial records
- Assist with conservation, preservation, and restoration of natural and cultural resources

- Some knowledge of any of the following:
- Planning environmental and/or recreational activities
- Natural resource management
- Wildlife biology
- Soil or plant science
- Rangeland conservation
- Forestry
- Federal, state, and local laws
- Fish or wildlife habitats
- Recreation management
- Fire prevention or suppression
- Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position
- Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug, physical, and audio screenings
