Bench Jeweler Apprentice

Bench Jeweler Apprentice

Part-Time with Opportunity to Grow into Full-Time

We're looking for someone who enjoys working with their hands, takes pride in craftsmanship, and wants to learn the art of fine jewelry making.

***PLEASE NOTE THAT APPLICANTS WHO DO NOT SEND THEIR COVER LETTER AND RESUME TO HELLO@GLENANDEFFIE.COM IN ADDITION TO THEIR HANDSHAKE APPLICATION WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR HIRE***

This is an entry-level apprenticeship where you'll work directly alongside experienced bench jewelers, learning the processes that go into creating, repairing, and finishing custom jewelry. No professional jewelry experience is required—we're looking for someone with the right attitude, work ethic, and attention to detail. However, dexterity with tools and materials with an enthusiasm to learn, is a must.

If you're the kind of person who enjoys building, fixing, creating, or making things, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do

  • Assist bench jewelers with daily production tasks
  • Learn jewelry fabrication, assembly, finishing, polishing, and repair techniques
  • Prepare pieces for stone setting and final finishing
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient workbench
  • Assist with quality control and inspection of finished pieces
  • Help receive, organize, and track jewelry through production
  • Learn proper care and handling of precious metals, gemstones, and specialized tools
  • Support the team with various studio projects as needed

As your skills develop, you'll take on more responsibility and work toward independently completing bench work.

We're Looking For Someone Who

  • Enjoys working with their hands
  • Is patient, detail-oriented, and takes pride in quality work
  • Has strong hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills
  • Is dependable, organized, and eager to learn
  • Can follow detailed instructions while maintaining accuracy
  • Enjoys solving problems and figuring out how things work
  • Works well both independently and as part of a team
  • Has a positive attitude and strong work ethic

Bonus Points

  • Experience with woodworking, metalworking, machining, art, sculpture, ceramics, or other hands-on crafts
  • Experience using hand tools or precision tools
  • Interest in jewelry, watches, engineering, fabrication, or manufacturing
  • Experience in a makerspace, workshop, or studio environment

What We Offer

  • Paid, hands-on training from experienced bench jewelers
  • Opportunity to learn a specialized trade and build valuable lifelong skills
  • Flexible part-time schedule with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position
  • A collaborative studio environment where craftsmanship matters
  • Opportunities for advancement as your skills develop

If you enjoy making things, appreciate craftsmanship, and are excited to learn a specialized trade, we'd love to hear from you.

If you’re passionate about jewelry, making, and love the small details, we’d love to meet you. Please email your resume and a short introduction to hello@glenandeffie.com with "Bench Apprentice" in the subject line.
