ASSISTANT CURATOR
Verko's Vault Museum of Miniature Art — Las Vegas, NV (on-site)

Part-time to start, approximately 25 hours per week, becoming full time after a trial period.
Pay: $20–24 per hour during the trial period, depending on experience, converting to a salaried position (approximately $45,000–52,000) upon moving to full time.
Schedule is flexible within museum operating days (Thursday–Monday, 11am–7pm) and will include some weekend days.

Responsibilities

- Assist the Museum Director with day-to-day museum operations.
- Assist with artifact restoration under the Director's supervision.
- Help catalogue and organize the museum's collection.
- Assist with exhibition preparation and installation.
- Research objects and maintain collection records.
- Photograph miniatures and museum objects (training provided).
- Assist with creating content for the museum website and social media.
- Help develop educational materials and visitor information.
- Occasionally assist with guided tours and special events.
- Support general administrative and project work as required.

We're Looking For

- Art graduate, or someone with hands-on painting experience (traditional media, not digital).
- Able to take direction closely at first and grow into working independently as skills develop.
- Practical and resourceful, comfortable tackling varied hands-on tasks, from artifact handling to basic facilities fixes, without needing every step spelled out.
- Curious and eager to learn.
- Highly organized and attentive to detail.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a small team.
- Interested in museums, art, history, design, photography, or cultural heritage.
- Passionate about miniatures and/or wargames.
- Confident using computers and willing to learn new software.
- Artistic sensibility and practical problem-solving skills; bonus points for social media content experience.

Painting involvement is optional and can be shaped around your interests and skills, whether that means learning miniature painting directly from the Director or focusing on curation, cataloguing, and collection work instead.

Previous museum experience or photography experience is not required. Full training will be provided in these areas:

- Museum collections management.
- Exhibition planning and installation.
- Object photography and editing.
- Museum documentation and cataloguing.
- Visitor engagement and interpretation.
- Behind-the-scenes museum operations.
- Miniature painting techniques, for those interested in that path.
