Assistant Teacher

Cathedral Parkway Towers Preschool – Upper West Side / Harlem, NYC 

Full-time | Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM 

About the Role

Cathedral Parkway Towers Preschool is looking for a warm, energetic Assistant Teacher to join our Two's Toddler Program. This is an ideal role for a recent early childhood education graduate looking to grow into a Lead Teacher position. You'll work alongside an experienced Lead Teacher, supporting daily classroom routines, curriculum implementation, and the social-emotional needs of two-year-olds — many of whom are experiencing school for the very first time.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Lead Teacher in daily classroom activities and routines
• Help children navigate emotions, transitions, and new experiences with patience and warmth
• Assist in implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum
• Support observation and documentation of children's development
• Help maintain a safe, organized classroom in compliance with NYC DOHMH Article 47
• Build trusting relationships with children and families

Requirements

• Coursework or a degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field
• Experience in early childhood setting preferred — new grads encouraged to apply
• Patient, nurturing approach to working with toddlers

Growth Path

This role is designed as a launching point — Assistant Teachers who thrive are supported in working toward Lead Teacher qualifications, including guidance on NYS certification or our Study Plan track.
