Benefits SBT Account Executive
GENERAL PURPOSE
The Benefits Account Executive is responsible for retaining and growing the Select Business Team (SBT) book of business by cultivating, strengthening, and expanding existing client relationships while developing new business opportunities through marketing leads and prospective client engagement. This role delivers consultative guidance, exceptional service, and strategic benefit solutions that support client satisfaction, retention, and growth.

• Manages the renewal and remarketing process, working independently, in accordance with established agency workflows, including obtaining census data, facilitating FormFire completion, evaluating renewal options, and finalizing renewal documentation.
• Develops and executes client retention strategies through proactive communication, relationship management, and timely renewal planning.
• Identifies opportunities to educate clients on additional benefit offerings and solutions that may strengthen their employee benefits program.
• Manages call-in, walk-in, and online new business inquiries by scheduling meetings, pursuing qualified sales opportunities, and securing new business.
• Consults with prospective clients to review exposures and risk factors, analyze business and insurance needs, develop strategic benefit solutions, and provide informed recommendations.
• Oversees the preparation of proposal materials, evaluates insurance program options and coverage, and presents recommendations to prospective clients.
• Prepares and delivers final proposal presentations and supporting materials.
• Explains insurance programs, funding arrangements, and alternative risk solutions to clients and prospects.
• Educates clients on employer portal tools, carrier resources, and available technology capabilities.
• Coordinates the implementation of new coverage, including the transition and termination of prior benefit plans when appropriate.
• Delivers exceptional service to clients and their employees by answering questions, coordinating requests and changes, and providing relevant resources and guidance.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation of client meetings, conversations, recommendations, decisions, and follow-up activities in agency systems.
• Collaborates with internal service, marketing, and advisory team members to support client needs and deliver a consistent client experience.
• Supports agency goals and objectives by retaining existing business and identifying opportunities for growth with key carrier partners.
• Follows agency workflows, quality standards, and procedures designed to minimize errors and omissions exposure.
• Cultivates and maintains client and prospect relationships through participation in community, professional, and industry organizations.
• Participates in ongoing education, training, and professional development to strengthen industry knowledge, consultative skills, and sales capabilities.
• Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• Strong knowledge of employee benefits products, insurance markets, funding arrangements, and the marketing and renewal process.
• Excellent negotiation, decision-making, consultative selling, relationship-management, and sales skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, as well as other business and agency-management systems.
• Ability to efficiently navigate carrier, enrollment, CRM, and benefit administration portals.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive client and employee information with discretion.
• Ability to travel locally as needed to support client and business-development activities.
• Ability to quickly learn new systems, processes, products, and responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree preferred. An industry-recognized professional designation awarded by The American College or a similar accredited organization, such as CEBS, RHU, REBC, or CPCU, may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Life and Health Insurance License.
• Commitment to pursuing and maintaining professional industry designations and continuing education.
• Previous sales, business-development, or client relationship-management experience is preferred.
• Experience in employee benefits, insurance, human resources, or a related field is preferred.
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Primarily operates in a professional office environment, with occasional travel to client meetings, carrier meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events.
• Requires frequent use of hands, fingers, and arms to operate computers and other office equipment.
• Regularly required to sit for extended periods and occasionally stand, walk, reach, bend, stoop, speak, and hear.
• Must be able to lift and/or move items weighing up to 10 pounds.
• Requires regular use of standard office equipment and technology.
