Accounting Intern
Gain real-world experience in performing monthly accounting services to a variety of small to midsize businesses. Reconcile bank and general ledger accounts, compile monthly financial statements, and assist with other firm-wide special projects.
Responsibilities and Roles:
- Accounting Support:
- Assist with research, filing, data entry, and recording and maintaining accurate and complete financial records.
- Prepare financial reports, such as balance sheets, income statements, invoices, and other documents.
- Sit in on client consultations surrounding accounting, tax and various operational matters
- Assist with quarterly tax estimates and projections, tax return preparation (as applicable)
- Special Projects:
- Support the creation of a training and resource library for clients
- Support the 1099 process (if interning during October - January)
- Support 1040 tax preparation (if interning during January - April)
- Research and participate in implementing new technologies designed to elevate firm operations (as requested)
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Attributes:
- Knowledgeable of GAAP
- Genuine curiosity and “can-do” attitude
- Teachable and open to feedback
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrates professionalism in managing schedule and work priorities to ensure the work gets done accurately and on time
- Interest in working in small to mid-size public accounting firm post-graduation
- Interest in pursuing a CPA in the future
Education and Experience:
- Junior or senior
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting
Other Requirements:
- Ability to work out of Grand Rapids, MI or Woodridge, IL office
- Typical in-office hours are 8:30am – 5:00pm CST/EST, allowing for flexibility and remote working with adequate communication.
