SAT Math Instructor
Description of Organization:
The Baruch STEP Academy is an academic enrichment program focusing on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education and providing college preparation. Managed through the CUNY Research Foundation, we serve 200 middle and high school students throughout the city each year.

The Fall 2026 Program will operate over 10 sessions: October 3 through December 12, excluding November 28.
Position: In-Person High School Instructor
Course Title: SAT Math Preparation | Schedule: 10:35am-12pm
Course Description: The course will prepare upperclass high school students for the math section (Geometry, Trigonometry, Algebra I and II) of the SAT.
Additional Information: Test taking tips and strategies that will be reviewed.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Prepare and teach curriculum for 20 students
- Evaluate student and group performance often
- Provide staff with measurable results in student learning through assessments
- Monitor and maintain accurate student attendance records
- Reassess curriculum based on students' needs, interests, and understanding of materials
Qualifications
Required:
- Availability for each program day from 10:30am-12pm
- Strong background in the subject area
Experience in a teaching capacity within subject area - Experience with designing/implementing a course curriculum
- Have a strong classroom management style
Preferred:
- Degree in mathematics or related subject
- Prior teaching experience with high school or undergraduate students
- Ability to engage students with creative lessons and innovative teaching style
- Possess good interpersonal skills with adolescents and a strong understanding of their maturity levels
- Enthusiasm for the subject with flexibility in adjusting curriculum to reflect students' abilities
Salary: $1,350 = [$45 an hour x 3 hours (1.5 hours of instruction + 1.5 hour of preparation) x 10 sessions]
