Mission Statement

Ready Set Kids Afterschool offers nurturing small-group after school care for children in grades K-3. While recognizing the opportunities for learning and growth during after school hours, we believe that children need a change of pace during their after school time, including time for rest and relaxation. With this in mind, we provide a program in which children may choose from a variety of structured enrichment activities and unstructured choice time when they may visit with friends and schoolmates or play quietly by themselves. Afterschool group leaders and assistant leaders are critical to ensuring a warm space for kids.

JOB DESCRIPTION

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM Instructor/Group Leader: ARLINGTON, Mass. location

Essential Functions

• Working under the supervision of the After School Director the Instructor will plan, instruct and participate in a variety of activities aimed at engaging students in enrichment, academic support, physical activities and social development learning objectives.
• Assist with safe transportation of students from their schools to the Afterschool Program.
• Supervise children attending the program and promote safety and respect amongst all participants.
• Ensure a friendly and supportive atmosphere is maintained by developing appropriate strategies to support children in managing their behavior.
• Respond to the individual needs of children and establish stable and consistent relationships with each child.
• Ensure that the health and safety needs of the children are met and all health and safety issues are dealt with immediately and appropriately.
• Cleaning and tidying of the facility and ensuring the safe storage of equipment.
• Report on a regular basis to Director or Assistant Director regarding issues of need and/or concern.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Passion for working with children

Some experience with leading children/youth activities

Ability to work as a team member in a dynamic, complex environment and organize time and workload effectively.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and students.

Demonstrated problem solving ability.

Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job including frequent standing, walking bending, kneeling, crouching or crawling. Ability to use various sports equipment used in program.

First Aid and CPR certification completed within 1 month of employment

Background CORI Check required

Required EEC qualifications for this position, and trainings within 1 month of hire 

Contract Commitment

All contracts are “at will” and may be terminated by either the employer or employee at any time.

Ten month program based on the Arlington or Medford Public School Calendar

Between 6 to 15 hours a week, M-F on-site program delivery: SCHEDULE INCLUDES 2pm to 6pm and occasional early release days 

Candidates MUST have availability at least 2 afternoons per week between the hours of 2-6pm. We are especially needing staff with Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday availability.
