Lifeguard

About the Role
Under the direction of the Aquatic Coordinator, Program Specialist, and Head Guard, the Lifeguard provides a safe environment for all participants in and around the pool. This includes responding to emergencies, enforcing safety standards, and administering CPR and First Aid according to YMCA and American Heart Association guidelines.
What You Will Do
- Monitor aquatic spaces to ensure participant safety
- Respond to emergencies quickly and effectively
- Administer CPR and First Aid according to certification standards
- Support positive interactions with participants of all ages and abilities
- Maintain readiness through active scanning and situational awareness
- Model YMCA values in all interactions
Qualifications
- Minimum age 16
- Current YMCA Lifeguard, American Red Cross Lifeguard, or Ellis and Associates Lifeguard certification
- Includes current First Aid and CPR Healthcare Provider certifications
- Ability to pass basic lifeguard skills test
- Includes swimming 500 yards
- Ability to relate to and communicate with people of all ages, cultures, and abilities
