Service Management Trainee

Service Management Trainee

Baltimore, MD / Bethlehem, PA / Clifton, NJ / Harrisburg, PA

Service – Route Service /

Full Time /

On-site

At Dempsey, we’re building the next generation of leaders for our service teams. As a Service Management Trainee, you’ll learn our business from the ground up—starting with the heart of our operations: route service. This program is designed to prepare you to manage a service team and eventually lead one of our service locations.

Why join Dempsey

We believe in growing leaders from within. As a trainee, you’ll gain hands-on experience, mentorship, and the tools you need to build a lasting career in management. You’ll work directly with customers, collaborate with service leadership, and develop the skills to run a successful service operation.

What you’ll do

  • Operate a service route three days per week to learn how to manage a book of business, build customer relationships, and deliver excellent service.
  • Spend one day per week in the office with your mentor, focusing on business operations, leadership training, and professional development.
  • Spend one day per week in the field with route leadership, observing and learning how to lead teams, resolve challenges, and support operational success.
  • Gain a full understanding of our service processes, from customer engagement to route management and team leadership.
  • Prepare for future leadership roles by applying what you’ve learned in real-world scenarios.

What you’ll bring

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, operations, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A problem-solving mindset with the ability to make sound decisions.
  • Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced environment.
  • An eagerness to learn, take initiative, and grow into a leadership role.

$52,000 - $60,000 a year

Would you like me to emphasize the leadership development path more (as in, this is a stepping stone to managing a service location) or keep the focus balanced between the hands-on route service and the leadership preparation?
