Taxpayer Advocate- Veteran Mentor

Veteran Mentor, Taxpayer Advocate, & Qualified Tax Expert ("QTE") 

• Position Type: Part-Time (14 – 28 hours per week) 
• Compensation: $32.00 – $35.00 / hour 
• Location: Morgantown, WV (Hybrid Remote – minimum 5 hours/week in-person) 
• Priority Window: First 10 days open exclusively to military veterans. 
About the Role 

We are launching a brand-new, IRS-funded Low Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC) expansion in West Virginia (wvlitc.org). We are seeking a mission-driven tax professional to serve as our Veteran Mentor, Taxpayer Advocate, and Qualified Tax Expert ("QTE"). In this dual-impact role, you will provide vital tax controversy representation to low-income individuals while directly building a brighter civilian future for the local veteran community by designing specialized workforce training and leading programmatic mentorship. 

Key Responsibilities 
• Taxpayer Advocacy: Represent eligible low-income taxpayers in audits, appeals, and tax collection disputes before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). 
• Program Supervision: Oversee and supervise our newly established veterans mentorship program, which is directly tied to the clinic's Enrolled Agent (EA) training curriculum and professional career development path. 
• Curriculum Development: Spearhead the creation and development of a specialized Enrolled Agent (EA) training and test curriculum designed specifically to enhance employment prospects for fellow veterans. 
• Community Presence: Spend at least 5 hours per week on-site at our Morgantown location for clinic operations, client intakes, or curriculum collaboration. The remainder of your hours can be completed on a flexible, hybrid-remote schedule.

Job Requirements 
• Credentials: Must hold active credentials as an Enrolled Agent (EA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or be an active member of the West Virginia Bar. 
• Veteran Focus: Strong desire to mentor, train, supervise, and elevate fellow veterans. 
• Availability: Ability to work a minimum of 5 hours per week in person at our Morgantown, WV location.
