Legal Assistant Paralegal
Intercounty Judicial Sales Corporation is a Chicago-based judicial sales company that conducts foreclosure sales throughout Illinois. We are also building out a new federal foreclosure commissioner practice under the Single Family Mortgage Foreclosure Act, and we are hiring a full-time Legal Assistant / Paralegal to support both sides of the work.
This is a real entry point into real estate and foreclosure practice. You will learn Illinois foreclosure procedure from the inside, work directly with the General Counsel and the firm's principal, and follow files from referral through confirmation of sale. No prior foreclosure experience is required. We will train you.
Responsibilities
Open, docket and maintain foreclosure sale files from referral through post-sale reporting.
Prepare and calendar statutory notices of sale, coordinate newspaper publication, and confirm compliance with notice deadlines.
Review title searches and lien reports to identify necessary parties and flag discrepancies.
Draft routine correspondence, reports of sale, and deeds for attorney review.
Track federal document retention and reporting requirements on HUD-referred files.
Communicate with mortgage servicers, title companies, circuit clerks and outside counsel.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree. A paralegal certificate is a plus but is not required.
Strong writing and proofreading. You will be drafting documents that go to courts.
Comfort with deadlines that are statutory rather than aspirational, and the judgment to escalate a question rather than guess at the answer.
Facility with Word, Excel, Adobe and web-based case management systems, specifically CLIO.
Interest in real estate, litigation support, or law school down the road.
Schedule and location
Full-time. Hybrid, with an initial in-office training period at our office at 120 West Madison Street in Chicago.
