Division Head: Support Exceptional Kids & Have A Chance To Win A Cruise

                 A Division Head is a college graduate responsible for program development and implementation within the scope of the philosophy of Camp Sequoia. They will work with the Program Director within an established budget to provide exceptionally fun and innovative opportunities for our campers. First and foremost, the Area Director is responsible for  the safety and welfare of campers and staff when engaged in their program activities. Each Director is hired for a unique and specialized knowledge as well as the ability to work with a non- neurotypical population.

Typically a division head will lead, and provide guidance to general counselors (who arrive with campers) as how to best assist during each activity. At times their role will range from assistant instructors to working with campers 1:1 outside the scope of the activity in order for the activity to be a success for the remainder of the campers. Communication upon arrival to each activity is crucial to understanding the oft changing dynamic between and among campers.
Division Heads will be responsible for specific portions of written camper evaluations (in collaboration with Head Counselors) and will be represented in daily leadership meetings to ensure smooth camp operation. A division head will arrive at camp with Senior Staff and will have time to plan and coordinate activities in advance of staff arrival.
In addition to scheduled evenings off, each Division Head has a day off each week. They also go with campers on weekly adventures out of camp, ranging from Hershey Park Amusement Park to the Baltimore Inner Harbor and may be required to drive a 15 pax van for these excursions.
Division Heads generally live in private dorm rooms and assist with the age group of young men to whom they have been assigned. Specifically this means serving as a supportive extra set of hands during wake-up, transitions, shower hour and bedtime. They can expect to help with evening activities several times a week and serve as an on call supervisor after lights out on a rotational basis.

Campwide, the staffing ratio is 2 adults for every 5 youth and this allows for a great deal of support and reinforcement at all levels. All staff enjoys the flexibility of copious indoor space for program areas. From air-conditioned lounges with televisions, to incredible gyms, fitness center, heated indoor pool and a myriad of other facilities, including an art studio featuring skylights and a kiln, this camp experience provides a synergistic blend of traditional camp elements (from fishing to swimming to overnight trips with campfires and marshmallows), to innovative offerings such as the STEM academy.

Compensation includes room, board, travel and laundry stipend, campus-wide wireless access and summer salary depending on experience and housing arrangements. Dates of employment are 6/5-8/5.
