Program Director, Latin America

OVERVIEW

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Managing and developing regional resources, community relationships, logistics, and curriculum
• Supervising the course design and implementation process for all regional programming
• Building rapport and trust with and between international and domestic staff vis-à-vis remote and in-person communication, cultivating an inclusive, equitable culture with the Latin America community at Dragons
• Informing admissions decisions as they relate to program specific concerns
• Supporting risk management response by being available to manage risk issues while courses are in-field
• Traveling internationally to visit programs and trainings in the field
• Sourcing, interviewing, training, and mentoring excellent regional program staff while maintaining awareness of personal biases and actively working to mitigate their impact
• Managing regionally based Regional Coordinators and in-country staff
• Managing staff assessment and feedback processes for regional instructors
• Marketing Outreach: Informing messaging, promoting programs, managing client relationships, and responding to
• inquiries
• Proactively communicating with prospective participants and interested parties
• Contributing to promotional materials and campaigns
• Maintaining alignment with Dragons DEI mission

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a strong background in Latin America and/or education
• 3+ years of professional work experience, preferably in an international education related position and with direct program management, people management, and/or instructing experience
• Broad knowledge of both Latin American cultures, histories, and social dynamics as well as US cultures and social dynamics
• Ability to speak about Dragons programs to prospective students & families in a compelling manner
• Skilled in risk management and emergency response, ideally in relation to young adults in international education settings, including physical and mental health, risks for those with targeted identities, and environmental risks
• Experiential education, facilitation, and cross-cultural pedagogy expertise
• Commitment to effective communication and nurturing healthy professional relationships
• Ability to foster the trust and confidence of staff, students, parents, and community partners
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish. Proficiency in other languages and dialects spoken in Peru, Bolivia, and Guatemala is a plus.
• Familiarity with and enthusiasm for administrative systems and tasks
• Ability to work comfortably and relatively independently in a fast paced environment, accept responsibility, and to shift priorities as needed

TERMS AND REMUNERATION

• Preferably based in Guatemala, Peru, Bolivia, or Boulder, CO, U.S.
• 6-8 weeks of anticipated travel in the US and Latin America annually.
• 100% position (40 hours/week), but open to 80%.
• $40,000-$65,000 USD annual salary range, starting commensurate with experience. Benefits TBD based on the specifics of international boarders opening and programming potential.
