Summer Intern
Following the 2020 election, The Civics Center is expanding its nonpartisan youth and democracy programs through grassroots organizing and policy campaigns.
Summer Interns will be key to accomplishing our near-term priorities and may focus in one or more of the following areas:
- Youth programming: Assist in the development and implementation of Future Voters Action Weeks throughout the summer and High School Voter Registration Week in September.
- Communications: Assist in the development and implementation of communications projects including social media campaigns, outreach to the Ready to Vote Coalition and other local and national organizations, and marketing as well as other administrative functions.
- Policy and Advocacy: Assist with research projects related to local, state, and national laws and policies related to youth voter registration and education and assist with the development and implementation of policy and awareness campaigns.
Requirements include excellent oral and written communication skills, great interpersonal skills, organization and attention to detail, creativity, and judgment. Ability to work in or to quickly learn Google Suite and a variety of other software applications pertinent to fulfilling the requirements of the position is also required.
Summer Interns must be willing to commit to 8-12 weeks and will be expected to complete between 20 and 35 hours per week. As most of The Civics Center’s programming will be delivered online, Summer Interns may be located anywhere, and except for in-person meetings and programs, we are flexible as to the times of day in which Summer Interns do their work. Online meetings and programming, however, may be scheduled between the hours of 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. Pacific. Upon successful completion of the internship, Summer Interns will be eligible to receive a stipend of $1,000. Positions may be extended beyond the summer depending on need, funding, and other factors.
