Education Researcher

Research for Action (RFA) is an independent, non-profit educational research organization with a mission of using research to achieve equitable educational opportunities and outcomes to help inform better policy and practice decisions. With over two decades of experience, our work is designed to strengthen public schools and postsecondary institutions; provide research-based recommendations to policymakers, practitioners and the public at the local, state and national levels; and enrich the civic and community dialogue about public education.

Summary:
Research for Action (RFA) is seeking a full-time Qualitative/Policy/Mixed Methods Researcher (Analyst/Associate) to contribute to research and evaluation studies in educational settings through research, data analysis, and writing. The candidate will participate in a variety of team-based research projects. Salary will be determined based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate. 



Job Qualifications:

·      Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a relevant field such as education, sociology, psychology, or public policy. Skills and experiences in lieu of these credentials also considered.

·      Experience conducting qualitative/policy/mixed methods research in P-20 settings.
·      Demonstrated project management skills, particularly in a research setting. 
·      Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to work collaboratively with team members on projects and ease at building rapport with interviewees, clients, and colleagues of diverse backgrounds.
·      Excellent written and oral communication skills to engage audiences that include academics, policymakers, community members, and practitioners.
·      Demonstrated experience in out-of-school time and/or postsecondary education programs/research preferred.
·      Periodic local and national travel required for fieldwork. ***Please note that RFA takes Covid-19 precautions seriously. Therefore, RFA researchers will not be asked to travel until federal/state/local health authorities deem it safe.
·      Candidates who are fluent in spoken and written Spanish. Candidates who are able to speak and translate Spanish/ conduct interviews in Spanish is a plus.
·      Experience in one of RFA’s other core research areas, including early childhood, K-12 education, adult education, or another education specialty will be considered. 
·      Commitment to racial equity and improving public education.
