Museum Operations (Guest Relations/Retail) Intern

The intern will serve in the Museum Operations division at Museum of the Bible, learning the various facets of the operations of a cultural institution. The intern will learn the daily operations of the guest relations, retail, admissions, group arrivals, and the volunteer and intern services teams. This position offers the intern the opportunity to learn and develop customer service standards, build engagement practices with guests, offer support, anticipate the needs of guests when interacting with the public, and learn exhibit content. The Museum Operations (Guest Relations/Retail) Intern will also build knowledge about the history, stories, and impact of the Bible by immersing themselves in the exhibits and other public spaces of the museum. This opportunity
offers an introduction to the complexity of museum operations. Students studying hospitality and tourism management are encouraged to apply.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will become skilled in learning more about customer service positions at a museum, including the information desk, guest relations, and various guest-interfacing opportunities. You will engage with guests from all over the country and the world in world-class exhibits that make a significant impact on the guest experience.

The best candidates for this role will have:

  • A passion for, and desire to learn more about the stories, history, and impact of the Bible.
  • Personal and professional goals they would like to achieve as part of the internship.


Educations:
  • Must currently be enrolled in or a recent graduate from a college or university


Qualifications:
  • Communicate effectively with staff and guests
  • Must be a self-starter
  • Interest in the Bible and biblical history
  • Have the desire to work with the public


Skills:
The following skills, knowledge, and experience will also be helpful to have before starting this internship:
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office 360 Suite and Video Conferencing Platforms.
  • A friendly spirit and a willingness to engage with the public!
