Fall Graduate Internship - Women's Health Program

Women’s Health Program of Community Catalyst

The Women’s Health Program of Community is seeking a 2021 fall semester intern to assist with programmatic work to address the negative impact of religiously-based provider restrictions on patients’ access to comprehensive reproductive health services, respectful maternity care, LGBTQ-inclusive care and all legal end-of-life options. This will be a 10 to 15-hour per week internship for 16 weeks, starting August 30, with a stipend of $3,000. The intern will work virtually, or potentially in person if located in NYC, reporting to the Women’s Health Program Director.

Intern responsibilities
1.     Assist with taking notes and documenting recommended next steps from coalition and small-group meetings.
2.     Following up with coalition members to obtain additional information or examples of model policies, as assigned.
3.     Conducting research, as assigned, into potential policy options and messaging/framing of those options for presentation to policymakers.
4.     Preparing initial drafts of a proposed long-term change agenda, based on coalition recommendations.
5.     Preparing fact sheets and blog postings about the need to address religiously-based provider restrictions on access to care.
6.     Assisting with logistics of scheduling coalition meetings.

Desired intern qualifications
1.     Strong demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of reproductive health, rights and justice.
2.     Demonstrated knowledge of the U.S. health delivery system and its oversight.
3.     Excellent writing abilities in both academic and popular formats, and strong interpersonal communication skills.
4.     Prefer graduate student seeking master’s level degree in in public health, health policy or law.
5.     Must be able to keep confidential the discussions within the coalition working on these issues.
