$37,440 - $39,520 per year
Regular, Full-Time – 40 hours per week

The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is looking for a Teen Tech Center Coordinator!  The Teen Tech Center Coordinator implements structured and casual interpretive programming for visiting teenagers in the Teen Tech Center and associated program spaces, designed for OMSI visitors aged 10-18, primarily during after-school hours. In joining the OMSI team, you also participate in OMSI’s vision to ignite an education transformation at the intersection of science and technology that spreads educational opportunities across the Northwest.
 
The Teen Tech Center is operated with support from Best Buy and the Clubhouse Network to provide support and resources for young people to pursue their interests and build upon their talents, mainly through technology. Activities include making and recording music, art, video, zines, animation, computer games, clothing, and more. The coordinator is responsible for daily functioning and maintenance of Teen Tech Center activities, equipment and technology. The Coordinator also supports long-term planning and implementation for experiences related to other areas of teen programming.
 
Position Details
·        Responsible for the day to day operations of Teen Tech Center (TTC) programming:
o   Coordinating and ordering supplies, provide ongoing maintenance, and communicate activity calendars to internal and external audiences;
o   Support youth in developing and pursuing project ideas, as well as soft skill and college/career/passion development;
o   Provide basic computer maintenance, including file management, trouble-shooting, and technical support to TTC youth and mentors;
o   Select, train, and coordinate the volunteer, intern, and work-study staff working in the TTC, ensuring they work effectively with youth;
o   Maintains a safe and secure environment for TCC guests and staff by adhering to and supporting TTC community agreements, such as upholding and communicating the 13-18 age requirement.
·        Keep current in technology and multimedia production trends and informal education, and serve as an internal and external resource
·        Provide community outreach to involve a diverse group of young people, parents, teachers, and community leaders in the program.
·        This position is scheduled to work from Tuesday-Saturday 11:00am-7:30pm
 
Position Requirements
·     Strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrated success in engaging teens of diverse backgrounds Pass pre-employment checks, such as criminal background check and reference checks.
·        Ability to present content in an engaging way with a diverse population of learners;
·     Developed communication skills, with an emphasis on presentation and public speaking
·     Ability to model and support a positive team dynamic with paid and unpaid staff
o   3 years of cumulative experience with increasing responsibility:
o   Demonstrated success with engaging and mentoring underserved teens;
o   Developed program management and/or coordination experience;
o   Experience working with and managing volunteers.
·     Pass pre-employment checks, such as criminal background checks and reference checks.
