The Department of Social Services (DSS) is currently recruiting for four (4) Accounts Examiners who will work in our Quality Assurance Office, located at 55 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, CT. These positions are full-time, first shift, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday. 

At DSS, we deliver and fund a wide range of programs and services as Connecticut’s multi-faceted health and human services agency. We serve about 1 million residents of all ages in all 169 Connecticut cities and towns. We seek to support the basic needs of children, families, older and other adults, including persons with disabilities. Services are delivered through 12 field offices, central administration, and online and phone access options. 

As an Accounts Examiner, we would entrust you to independently perform a full range of tasks in the examination of financial records of state agencies, businesses, municipalities, or other entities. Additionally, along with other duties as assigned, we would have you:
  • Independently apply knowledge and analysis of professional accounting and auditing principles in the conduct of examinations
  • Craft detailed unit reports explaining your findings, including recommendations to remedy any inconsistencies
  • Conduct on-site audit reviews
