POSITION TITLE: Research Assistant I (NE)
 
POSITION SUMMARY:
A Research Assistant position is immediately available in the Puthanveettil Laboratory in the Department of Neuroscience, Scripps Florida. Working within the Puthanveettil laboratory, the selected candidate will, under minimal supervision, independently and in collaboration with others perform research and conduct a wide variety of standard laboratory procedures for projects. 
 
Specific duties will include mouse breeding, genotyping and maintaining colonies, stereotaxic injections, mammalian cell culture and preparation of lentiviral particles. Experiences in mouse behavior assays such as fear conditioning and water maze are preferred, although not required. 
 
Additionally, as necessary, the candidate may assist in routine equipment maintenance and perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required or assigned.

The specific research projects will include cellular and behavioral analysis of noncoding RNAs in memory storage and mouse models of neurological disorders.
 
RESPONSIBLITIES AND DUTIES:
The research assistant will be expected to maintain high-quality organization of all applicable data and scientific materials, meet regularly with the Principal Investigator to review generated data and discuss upcoming experimental strategy, and perform other duties and tasks as required or requested. Candidates should also be able to work interactively in a highly collaborative research environment. Details of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.
 
REQUIREMENTS:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been attained. Requires 1-3 years’ experience. Candidates possessing a master’s degree, 0-2 years’ experience required.
