Math Academy Instructor

Job Description
Primary functions and purpose of this position including overall objectives of the position:
Math Academy is a safe space for middle school-aged Crusaders to build confidence in foundational math skills to feel better prepared in the classroom. We are looking for a facilitator who is willing to meet students where they are while also providing opportunities for growth with challenging math practice and teamwork. As a team, instructors will work together to ensure all Crusader needs are met, curriculum is implemented appropriately, and to provide a fun and engaging learning environment!

Job Requirements
Specific Duties
·        Work collaboratively with Crusaders and fellow instructors
·        Responsible for implementing curriculum and differentiating instruction
·        Engage youth in both independent and team challenges for skill development
·        Adapt activities each Saturday to reflect the needs and interests of Crusaders
·        Manage work completion and encourage consistent attendance
·        Develop relationships and rapport with Crusaders
·        Serve as a positive role model throughout the program to youth and peers
·        Must commit to all 10 Saturday sessions and one training session
Position Qualification and Competencies
Essential KSOC’s (knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics)
·        A strong belief in the ability of all students – regardless of background – to excel academically
·        Ability to problem-solve, multi-task, and adapt to student need
·        Organized, flexible, and patient within a fast-paced environment
·        Understanding of group dynamics and the developmental characteristics of middle school youth
Education and Experience Requirements
·        Earned Bachelor’s degree, Math teaching certification (or relevant field / experience)
·        Demonstrated experience working with youth, especially from diverse populations
Other Requirements
·        Must have own transportation and technology
·        Commitment to the vision, mission, and values of the College Crusade
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
·        Dates: Saturdays, Fall runs Oct. 2 – Dec. 11 (off on Nov. 27 for break)
·        Training: Sept. 25 (to be confirmed)
·        Time: 9:00am – 12:00pm
·        Location: Providence location, TBD
·        Content Areas: Pre-Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2
